Emmett Therapy in The Tablelands
Supporting Effortless Movement
Jono was first introduced to Emmett Therapy for Horses mid-2020. One of his stallions hurt his suspensory ligament on his off-side hind leg at a campdraft. Over the course of a few months Jono was unable to find a suitable solution to his problem and he had come to the point that the stallion would collapse when turned and almost fall over. Jono decided to retire him to breed from. However, he met a lady who asked if he had ever tried Emmett Therapy. Jono didn’t but was ready to try anything. As luck would have it, Jono managed to get in contact with an Emmett therapist close to home who was happy to come and look at the stallion the next day. After one treatment and leaving Jono 3 things to do each day, he was able to ride his horse at a campdraft two weeks later.
The stallion is still competing to this day. It’s not a miracle cure, but by using the Emmett Technique, Jono has been able to maintain the horse. A year later, Jono started his own Emmett journey. Unfortunately, in May 2021, Jono suffered from a severe and life-threatening infection in his right leg. Thanks to his mentors Gary Wells and Ross Emmett himself, who found ways to help with recovery and improve movement of his leg, Jono went on to become an Emmett Practitioner for both Horses and Humans.
Jono now travels from The Tablelands, Charters Towers, Toowoomba, the Hunter Region, Tamworth and beyond making his services available to individuals, professional competitors, as well as commercial operations and events in equine, livestock and rural industries.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Emmett Therapy?
Emmett Therapy is a gentle bodywork technique designed to release muscle tension and support mobility. It involves the application of light touch to specific points on the body, known as Emmett points. This technique helps promote relaxation and physical comfort by encouraging the body’s natural ability to adjust and respond. Emmett Therapy is suitable for people and animals of all ages, offering a non-invasive option for addressing physical discomfort, improving posture, or aiding recovery. Sessions are often tailored to individual needs, making it a flexible and supportive approach that can complement other therapies or treatments aimed at enhancing overall wellbeing.
How does Emmett Therapy work?
Emmett Therapy works by using light finger pressure at specific points to trigger a response from the body. These points are thought to influence the body’s nervous system, helping to release muscle tension and restore balance. The technique is gentle and non-invasive, making it suitable for a variety of physical needs. By stimulating the body’s natural responses, Emmett Therapy can support relaxation, improve movement, and help with areas of discomfort. Each session is typically adapted to the individual’s requirements, focusing on their unique needs to promote comfort and mobility. It can also be used alongside other care practices to optimise results.
What can Emmett Therapy help with?
Emmett Therapy is used to address various physical concerns, such as muscle tightness, reduced mobility, and general discomfort. It may benefit individuals recovering from physical strain or injuries, or those seeking improved posture and flexibility. For animals, it can support their comfort and mobility, particularly if they are recovering from physical challenges or adjusting to new activities. The therapy is suitable for all ages and is often tailored to the specific needs of the person or animal. By encouraging relaxation and supporting natural body responses, it promotes overall wellbeing, making it a useful addition to a holistic approach to care.
Muscle Release Therapy
Treatments are based on the Emmett Technique. However, Jono also combines red light and chiropractic moves (horses only) into his treatments.

Therapy for Horse and Rider In the equine world, balance and pain-free movement in both horse and rider is essential for all disciplines to reach full potential. Treating insufficiencies in the rider (due to injury or pregnancy), such as a crooked hip or spine, stiff neck and frozen shoulders, will help the horse to balance and improve movement.
